In 2013 I was fresh out of graduate school flying with my brand new MFA and I thought that my life was on an exponential rocket journey. This show brought all my unused work done for the incomplete Escape of Panama Dorado. Much of my work has multiple lives or interactions with other pieces. This is only the ceramics plus the final painting in the series where Panama Dorado sees the stump where her hand was cut off and lost in the third dimension. At the bottom are three images showing the life of my backstage presence. I had to man the gallery personally during all open hours. Whie there I drank the opening night wine and began a new series of paintings: Cover to Comics that Don't Exist.
At one point in the Escape of panama Dorado I intended Doc A would teleport into the organ Room at house on the Rock, which I think of as the Control room managing the flight of Doctor Evermor’s Forevertron. I was embracing these two neighboring Wisconsin roadside attraction art pieces into my own mythological rant. These are some of the figures involved in the Organ Room skirmish.
Here they have a different roll, one I never bothered to define.
The six arms of this instalation include a fist, a blessing, two hands holding a machine gun, and a hand puppet, and two hands tearing open the figure’s shirt revealing the imprint of a hammer.
